At Hope’s Pathway Chatham, we help you feel supported, encouraged, and empowered through your pregnancy decision.

Pregnant and still in school?
Trying to navigate high school or college as a student during an unexpected pregnancy is overwhelming. One day you’re focused on homework, hanging out with friends, and graduation; the next day, you have pregnancy symptoms and need to make a life-changing decision.
Are you feeling anxious, frustrated, and confused? It may not be easy, but know we’re here with you. We will always answer your questions accurately, confidentially, and respectfully. Moreover, all of our services are provided at no cost to you.
Support for Pregnant Students
We provide free confidential services for women who think they may be pregnant. An unplanned pregnancy is a scary time for a student, so you need a safe place to talk with someone. Our conversations and your test results are entirely confidential. We can help you with important first steps, such as:
- Confirm your pregnancy with free lab-quality self-administered pregnancy testing.
- Provide you a referral for an ultrasound for pregnancy confirmation.
- Discuss all your pregnancy options in a private, confidential consultation.
- Receive free resources and referrals to helpful community resources.

Laws for Pregnant Students in NC
You have the right to confidential pregnancy testing. No one can tell your parents or anyone else about the results unless you say it’s okay. Likewise, no one can force you to take a pregnancy test, an STI test, or an HIV test without your permission. Legally, you decide on your own what to do about your pregnancy. You have the right to consent to all health care that affects your pregnancy and childbirth. You don’t need your parents’ or anyone else’s permission, nor do you have to make a decision anyone else is pressuring you to make.
As a pregnant student, you have certain rights determined by the federal government. The U.S. Department of Education prohibits discrimination through Title IX because of pregnancy and parental status. You have the right to take time off from school for prenatal visits, childbirth, abortion care, as well as other pregnancy-related health reasons. You have the right to receive educational support, take off from school, and you must be allowed to pick up where you left off when you return.
